It's All About Me
My name is Crystal Yvonne Poole (hence the nickname CYP), and I am a 22-year-old Graduate Student at the University of Alabama. Originally, I am from Oxford, AL, where my family still lives. I have a B.S. in Mathematical Statistics with a minor in Computer Science. I am currently pursuing my Master's degree (M.A.) in Secondary Education through the Alternative Certification program to teach math in a high school. Another thing I have considered is becoming an actuary or a statistician. But, we'll see.

My Busy Schedule
Fall Semester is looking really grim this year. With 15 hours of graduate courses and all of the homework associated with each, I don't think I will have time for too much fun. I am working 20 hours a week in the MTLC (Math Technology Learning Center) as a Graduate Assistant. All that is a fancy way of saying that I will be tutoring Math 005, Math 100, Math 110, and Math 112 students. I am also responsible for keeping gradesheets for each different class in the math lab (there are about 40). I love my job, so the only complaint you might hear from me about it is that I am always there!

My biggest time-waster (although I don't have that much to waste) will be going to all of the Alabama football games this season. I promised myself that I would go to every one (home and away) since it is my last year. That will be difficult since they added an away game in Hawaii to their schedule, but I am still working on it! The picture above is of Stacy, Casey, and me at the Iron Bowl two years ago. Click the picture to link to the 2002 football schedule.

I finally got to move off-campus this year after four long years of Residential Life. Now, I live across the river in the Rivermont Apartments with Stacy (in the pic above) and Jenny, a co-worker of hers from the Crimson White, our school's newspaper. It is nice, and I finally have my own bedroom. The only drawbacks are that I live kind of far away (there can be no quick trips home if I forget something), and Stacy and Jenny are hardly ever there when I am (although sometimes that is exactly what I need!).

Anyway, if I left anything out, I will probably think of it later, and I will update the page then!

Mi Familia
My immediate family is very special. It consists of my dad, my mom, myself, and my little sis, Brittany. They are all wonderful people on their own way.

My dad, Darvin Poole, is a teacher/coach. He currently teaches at Walter Wellborn High School in Anniston, AL. He is a former coach and avid lover of airplanes and everything flying-related. He has already passed the written test and is waiting to take the flying test to get his pilot's license. He also works two weekends a month at his parents' BBQ Restaurant. He is a big and tall man who LOVES airplanes!

My mother, Melanie Poole, is a kindergarten teacher at C.L. Salter Elementary School in Talladega, AL. She is involved in many church activities, and she loves learning more about God. She also likes to take mini-trips with her carpool friends on occasion.

Finally, my sister. Brittany is a 18-year-old Freshman at Central Alabama Community College (CACC). She plays volleyball year-round, and received a full scholarship to play at school this year and next. Her favorite activity, however, is spending time with her big sister (yeah, right).

Anyway, that's my family. Hope you learned something.

The Extended Family
My extended family is very special to me...

On my dad's side of the family, my grandparents are Oscar and Edna Poole. They live in East Ellijay, GA, and own Poole's Real Pit BBQ Restaurant (it's really good). Since they are both "retired", they also own a trailer on the river in Astor, FL. It's very beautiful down there, AND only 30 minutes from Daytona Beach! Granny and Grandfather have four sons. Keith, the oldest, works in Atlanta, GA, for Turner something-or-other. Next is my dad. Then, there's Greg, who is recently remarried (to Cynthia), and he lives in Calera, AL. Greg sells trucks for Kenworth, and he has three kids, Jordan, Caleb, and Coleman. The youngest brother is Michael. He lives in Wylie (a suburb of Dallas), TX, with his three kids, Sarah, Stephanie, and David. He is a Dallas City cop. I love all of the Poole's very much!!!

On Mom's side of the family, my grandparents are Ron and Barbara Pierce. Papa and Grandmother are both retired, and they travel a LOT! They also own a condo on a golf course in Ft. Myers, FL. Again, it is VERY beautiful down there, and it is VERY close to the beach! Papa's sisters are Robbie and Louise Fletcher. They are retired and live in Ft. Oglethorpe, GA. Mom has one sister, Julie. Julie is married to Jeff and works for Brachs Candy Company. They live in Rossville, also, with their three kids, Russell, Colin, and Nathaniel. I also love the Pierce side of the family very much!!!
